Molasses Tongues

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup Crisco
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 4 cup baking molasses
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda

Directions

Cream sugar and Crisco until fluffy, add egg and molasses. Mix well Add remaining ingredients Beat until flour is mixed well.

Chill overnight. Roll one tablespoon of dough in palms to form a log about the size of a small finger Roll log in granulated sugar. Place two inches apart on cookie sheet.

Bake at 325° F. for 12 to 15 minutes
